Interaction in class

Unit 3 Task 2

In a classroom of Secondary Education, in a lesson we can use different methodologies. But in this context I think the best option is to use a interactive methodology, what it means, a bidirectional approach.

In any subject of that level we can interact with our pupils directly talking with them in class, or using the new technologies. Nowadays, students prefer to interact with the teacher and with their partners through the use of electronic devices instead of traditional sources, such as, letters or notes. Bearing that in mind, we can enhace the interaction with our students.

If we as teachers, are capable of use that to attract and keep pupils' attention, we would be in the good way take advantages of the advantages and avoid the disadvantages of the ICT for promote the interaction between teachers and students. Otherwise, the disadvantages are few, but we cannot forget them. The main disadvantage is that sometimes we can overmonitor our students' interaction with us and between them, so this interaction will not be genuine.

ICT are not the only teaching strategies that we can use in classroom, but are maybe the most motivating ones, so we should exploit that. We also can find other strategies, but in some of them we should be experts using them, such as, the group dynamics techniques.

Here, I let you a list of different kinds of strategies that we can use in classroom to promote interaction with our students and between them:

  1. Competitions
  2. Work through projects
  3. Brainstorming
  4. Role playing
  5. Group dynamics
  6. Trivial Quiz
  7. Posters
  8. Cooperative work
  9. Debates
  10. Collaborative work in teams
